The casino hall
Slot machines, electronic gaming and table games, on the ground floor of the hotel.

Not a floor show. A room.
Our casino hall was built into the ground floor of the hotel rather than bolted onto it. There are no windows onto the street, no queue at the door, and no music loud enough to shout over. What there is: a long room of machines, a smaller room of tables, a bar in between, and dealers who have worked here for years.
Guests staying at the hotel walk down from their rooms. Visitors from town are equally welcome. Either way you show identification at the door and then the evening is your own.

Slots and electronic gaming
The main floor carries a mix of slot machines and electronic gaming machines: classic three-reel slots for those who want them, and modern multi-line video slots for those who don't. Stakes run from the very small upward, and no machine on the floor is beyond a beginner.
Seating is spaced properly, the lighting is low rather than dim, and there is always someone on the floor to explain a machine to you without making a performance of it.
Refreshments are complimentary for anyone playing.

Blackjack, roulette and poker
Through the archway is the table room. Blackjack runs every evening the hall is open. Roulette follows the European single-zero wheel. Poker tables are laid for casual play and, on set evenings through the year, for tournaments.
Our dealers are patient with newcomers and quick with regulars. If you have never played a table game before, arrive early and say so — someone will walk you through it before the room fills.
Tournament dates and entry details are listed on the promotions page.

Our obligations, plainly stated
Wanaka Residences operates its Host Responsibility programme in accordance with the Gambling Act 2003.
Identification is checked at every entry point to the casino hall. Our staff are trained to recognise the signs of problem gambling and to intervene early and privately. Any guest may request voluntary self-exclusion from the hall at any time; speak to any member of the team and the matter will be handled confidentially and without fuss.
Gambling is meant to be entertainment. Set a limit before you start, do not chase a loss, and take breaks. If it stops being entertainment — for you or for someone close to you — help is free, confidential, and available at any hour.
